Cole Aldrich Featured on Rock Chalk Sports Talk April 20

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas center Cole Aldrich was the featured guest on Rock Chalk Sports Talk live from the Salty Iguana in Lawrence, Tuesday, April 20, from 6-7 p.m. (Central).

Rock Chalk Sports Talk is a daily talk show on Lawrence’s KLWN that each Tuesday is broadcast along the 30-plus station Kansas Jayhawk Radio Network from 6-7 p.m. The show is hosted by Brian Hanni and David Lawrence and featured host for April 20 was Kansas men’s basketball 2005 Consensus All-American Wayne Simien.

The show originated from the Salty Iguana (6th and Wakarusa) which is host to Hawk Talk with Bill Self, a weekly radio show during the regular season. Aldrich signed autographs and posed for photos during the hour-long show.

Named the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, Aldrich averaged 11.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game during 2009-10 with 15 double-doubles. He blocked 125 shots to record a KU single-season record. In addition to his Academic All-America honors, Aldrich was named All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season. He was a Consensus All-America Second Team selection and never lost in Allen Fieldhouse, posting a three-year record of 55-0. He finished his career second on the KU blocked shots list with 254. At the KU postseason men’s basketball banquet Aldrich was co-winner of the Mr. Jayhawk Award with senior teammate Sherron Collins.

Following Kansas’ 33-3 season in which it won the Big 12 regular-season, Big 12 postseason championships and was ranked No. 1 for 15 weeks, Aldrich announced he would forego his senior season at KU and declared for the NBA Draft which will be June 24.
