On the weather conditions in Lawrence:

“Well, it’s a little chilly and windy today. I’m hoping it will feel much better tomorrow. I’m making my 200-meter debut and I really want to kick my 2010 season off with a good time. So I’m praying for much better weather than today.”

On if she prefers running in warmer weather

“Cold is not good. Too hot is not good. So a temperature somewhere in the middle would be just fine.”

On her experience racing in Memorial Stadium while competing for Barton County Community College:

“I think I competed here once while at Barton County and it was quite fun. It was the latter part of the day and we got rained on, but we were able to run the 4×100 (meter relay) and the atmosphere was great, other than the rain.”

On how she feels about being the most famous competitor at the 2010 Kansas Relays:

“It’s a blessing after doing track for a long time. I am thankful to God that I have achieved a lot. I have a lot of fans friends that support me. I’m just going to keep training hard and keep making them happy.”

On how she feels about being a two-time Olympic Champion:

“Again, it’s a blessing. I was fortunate to have a lot of support. I’m hoping to make it three consecutive wins in London in 2012. I would be the first one to do that, so we’ll see if I can achieve that.”

On if she every thought as a child she would be an Olympic gold medalist:

“Since I was a little girl, I have always loved track and field. My dream was always to win an Olympic gold medal. I was very pleased to accomplish that in 2004 and again in 2008. It was a blessing and I’m just very thankful.”

On if she will win her running events on Saturday:

“That is the objective, to come out here tomorrow and win with a really decent time as I get ready for the rest of the season.”
