No. 21 Oklahoma Edges Kansas Tennis 4-3

NORMAN, Okla. –
Dylan Windom extended her singles winning streak to six with a fifth singles win Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough as Kansas tennis fell 4-3 to No. 21 Oklahoma at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.
KU falls to 9-11 overall and 3-7 in Big 12 Conference play, while the Sooners moved to 15-5 and 7-2 in league action.
The Jayhawks started off strong by securing the doubles point. Monica Pezzotti and Paulina Los won the No. 3 doubles match against Tara Eckel and Marie Piere-Huet. Ekaterina Morozova and Dylan Windom took the No. 1 match against the No. 51-ranked pair of Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Alice Radu to earn the point for KU.
However, KU quickly fell behind in singles play, dropping the first four matches.
Los fell 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 match, and Erin Wilbert was then blanked 6-0, 6-0 in fourth singles. Pezzotti was downed 6-0, 6-2 in second singles and Victoria Khanevskaya was topped 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 match.
The Jayhawks ended the day with two wins from Morozova and Windom. Morozova played a tight contest against Constantinescu, winning the first set before dropping the second. But Morozova came out on top in the super-tiebreaker, winning 10-6.
Windom was able to stave off a rally from Mia Lancaster to win the No. 5 match 7-6, 6-4.
The Jayhawks will conclude the regular season back home at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility in the Sunflower Showdown match against Kansas State at 12 p.m. KU’s two seniors, Maria Martinez and Kate Goff will also be honored at the match.
