Former Kansas Golfer Chelsey Pryor Honored at Annual Women's Recognition Program

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former University of Kansas women’s golfer Chelsey Pryor was honored Tuesday at the annual Women’s Recognition Program at the KU Student Union.

Pryor, who competed at KU from 2002-06, received the Outstanding Woman in Athletics award, which was one of five student awards honored at the event.

KU’s Commission on the Status of Women and Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center sponsor the Women’s Recognition Program. Barbara Atkinson, executive vice chancellor of the KU Medical Center and executive dean of the School of Medicine, was the keynote speaker at the event.

A three-time Academic All-Big 12 first team selection, Pryor was named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team her sophomore season. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native recorded four top 10 finishes in her golf career at Kansas and won the ORU Shootout her senior season.

Student awards honored outstanding women in athletics, community service, the international arena and leadership and a nontraditional woman, a woman in partnership and a new award for student mothers. Awards were also given to female faculty and staff members.
