Volleyball Helps Out at Jubilee Café

April 21, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Members of the Kansas volleyball team took time to give back to their community earlier this month by helping out at Lawrence’s Jubilee Café.

The café, located in the basement of the United First Methodist Church on Vermont Street, serves a free, hot breakfast twice a week to those in the community who may need it.

Players from the Jayhawk volleyball team arrived at Jubilee Café early to help prepare the morning’s breakfast. The team then helped to serve guests their meal.

“It feels good giving time to help those who need it,” said junior Melissa Manda. “And it’s nice to know we helped feed some people who might not have eaten otherwise. It’s a fun environment helping at the Jubilee Café and I enjoy working with people who share the same desire to help those in the community.”
