Tennis Hosts Texas A&M To Close Out Regular Season

Lawrence, Kan. – The University of Kansas tennis team will host the No. 31 Texas A&M Aggies on Sunday for the team’s final tune-up before the Big 12 Tournament. The match will take place in Lawrence, Kan., at Robinson Courts and will begin at 10 a.m.

KU enters the match looking to break a six-match losing streak as the team is 4-15 overall and 3-7 in Big 12 play after losing to Colorado last Saturday, 5-2.

The Aggies are 12-11 on the season and 6-3 in Big 12 play after falling to No. 10 Texas, 5-2, on Wednesday. Texas A&M plays Kansas State on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan., before the matchup with KU. Last season, KU lost to the Aggies in College Station, Texas, 7-0.

The Jayhawks have been led by the strong play of junior Christine Skoda at No. 2 singles and freshman Stephanie Smith at No. 6, who both own 7-3 records in Big 12 play. The two are tied for second in the Big 12 with seven wins at their respective positions.

Following the matchup against Texas A&M, the Jayhawks will head to Austin, Texas, for the Big 12 Tournament. Play begins on Thursday, April 29.
