Games notes…
-Paid attendance at Kauffman Stadium was 4,102.
-RP Colton Murray (2-1) earns the victory for the Jayhawks with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless work while Ryan Clubb (1-2) takes the loss for the Tigers, giving up four earned runs over 3 2/3 innings.
-C Buck Afenir got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st on a two out double to centerfield. Afenir’s RBI improved the Jayhawks to 13-4 when scoring in the first inning and 21-4 when scoring first in the game.
-SP Brett Bollman allowed two earned runs over 5 1/3 innings. The two runs were the first earned runs he has allowed since April 8 at Iowa. Bollman’s walk in the top of third inning was only his fourth of the season and first in his last 18 innings of work.
-2B Robby Price was hit by a pitch for the ninth time this season; he leads the team in this category. Price laid down his team leading 10th sacrifice bunt of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning. Coming into the game Price was ranked 16th in the country in this category.
-Nine batters have been hit by pitches this week for the Jayhawks, five vs. Baker on Tuesday, April 21 and four vs. Missouri tonight.
-RF Brian Heere led off the bottom of the sixth inning with his third triple of the year Heere leads the team in that category.
-1B Preston Land hit his third home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning off of Missouri pitcher Ryan Clubb. All three home runs by Land this season have been hit since last Friday, April 17.
-SS David Narodowski came into the game batting .400 with the bases loaded before his two-out, two RBI single to center field.
-All seven of the Jayhawk RBI’s in the game came with two outs, including Land’s three-run home run in the sixth and Narodowski’s two RBI single in the eighth.
