Kansas Sits at 12th After Day One of Big 12 Championship

NORMAN, Okla. – Following one round of play, Kansas women’s golf sits in 12th place at the Big 12 Championship Friday. The Jayhawks shot a team score of 314 on day one.

Oklahoma State set the pace for the tournament with a score of 293, while Texas Tech sits in second with a 299. Iowa State is one stroke behind second with an even 300.

Seniors Meghan Gockel, Emily Powers and junior Grace Thiry each fired a 78 and are currently tied for 35th. Jennifer Clark and Meghna Bal chipped in 80s to end the day tied for 46th.

Victoria Park and Caroline Hedwall, both of Oklahoma State, fired two-under par 70 to lead through the tournament’s opening round. Oklahoma State currently has three players sitting in the top-five.

Round two is set to tee off at 8 am Saturday with round three concluding the tournament on Sunday.
