KU Finishes Ninth At Big 12 Championships

AUSTIN, Texas –

The University of Kansas women’s golf team finished in ninth place, in a 12-team field, after carding a 310, its best round of the tournament, in the final round of the Big 12 Championships held at the University of Texas G.C. in Austin, Texas. The `Hawks finished with a three day total of 952.

Oklahoma State held on to the three day lead and finished with a score of 900 to win the team title. Texas finished second with a 901.

Junior Chelsey Pryor led the way for the Jayhawks with a 235 to tie for 26th. Sophomore Amanda Costner finished strong and ended up tied for 33rd with a 238. Junior Meredith Winkelmann finished the tournament tied for 46th with a 244. Freshman Annie Giangrosso carded a 249 to place in 54th. Sophomore Jill Womble shot a three day score of 250 to place in 55th.

Kansas has now wrapped up regular season action and will await word on whether or not it has qualified for regionals. The Central Regionals begin on May 5-7 in Lubbock, Texas.
