LAWRENCE, Kan. – Honoring Kansas men’s basketball 2008 national championship, NASCAR’s Scott Lagasse Jr. will race with the championship Jayhawk logo on his truck at the Kansas Motor Speedway this Saturday.

Lagasse, who resides in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Davidson, N.C., will drive in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 race scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. in Kansas City, Kan. The event will also be televised LIVE on SPEED Channel. Lagasse won the ARCA Re/Max Series race in April 2007 at the Kansas Motor Speedway.

On Saturday, Lagasse’s truck will feature the KU national championship logo on both sides and most prominently on the bed of the No. 20 Nicholson Group Ford F-150. Additionally, “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” is on both sides of the logo on the bed and on the tailgate of the truck.

“I’m a huge college basketball fan and have followed the Jayhawks for a long time through a good friend and my business manager Jeff Tryon, who is a Kansas alum.” Lagasse Jr. said. “The team played their hearts out and the coaching staff did an incredible job.”

This marks the second time the logo will appear on a racing vehicle since KU won the title April 8. NASCAR’s Clint Bowyer, from Emporia, Kan., had the logo on his car during the April 11 Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 in Phoenix, Ariz. Bowyer finished eighth out of 43 drivers in the race.
