NORMAN, Okla. – Meghna Bal fired a 75 to pace the Kansas women’s golf team in the second round of the Big 12 Championship Saturday. The Jayhawks are in 12th-place heading into Sunday’s final round.

Oklahoma State leads the event by 10 shots over Texas with Texas A&M and Kansas State 11 behind the Cowgirls. KU is five shots behind host and 11th-place Oklahoma after two rounds.

Bal’s 75 was the best round by any Jayhawk through two days. The junior shaved five shots off her opening 18-hole score of 80 and her 155 total is tied with teammates Emily Powers and Grace Thiry for 36th in the individual race.

Powers and Thiry both shot 77s on the second day after opening with 78s on Friday. Meghan Gockel shot an 83 and is tied for 50th at 161, while Jennifer Clark shot 84 and is in 57th place individually with a 164 total.

Oklahoma State boasts the only two players in the field under par as Caroline Hedwall is seven-under at 137 after a second-day 67 and Victoria Park is three-under with a 141 total.

The Jayhawks will be paired with Nebraska and Oklahoma for Sunday’s final round at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. The tournament resumes play at 8 a.m. with the first Jayhawk teeing off at 8:50 a.m.
