Kansas Tennis Gets Rematch with Kansas State in Opening Round of Big 12 Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas tennis was awarded the 10th seed for this week’s Big 12 Tennis Championships, and will face No. 7 Kansas State in Thursday’s opening round, as announced Sunday by the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas comes into the tournament at 9-12 overall and 3-8 in the Big 12. K-State is currently 15-6 and 6-5 in conference action. The Jayhawks fell 5-2 to the No. 45-ranked Wildcats in Saturday’s regular season finale. With the loss in the Sunflower Showdown, the all-time series moved to 39-10 in Kansas’ favor. Paulina Los and Erin Wilbert were KU’s winners in the contest, with Los defeating Nina Sertic 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in No. 4 singles and Wilbert downing Petra Chuda 6-1, 7-6.

The Jayhawks will square off against K-State at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
