POSITION TITLE: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/DEGREE & CAREER COUNSELING

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible after application deadline

APPOINTMENT: Full-time

SALARY: $40,000

DUTIES: Serve as a liaison to designated coaching staffs and various KU academic and administrative units. Meet regularly with new student-athletes and others to discuss challenges, set goals, and evaluate progress. Communicate with prospective student-athletes during their campus visit. Educate student-athletes regarding university degree programs and requirements. Formulate long-term degree plans and monitor academic and degree completion progress. Participate in Student Support Service support team meetings to discuss students’ progress and develop strategies for academic success. Coordinate student-athletes’ participation in orientation, academic advising, and enrollment. Perform related administrative duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

Required: Earned Master’s degree in a field directly related to education &/or counseling student-athletes. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Three years experience counseling student-athletes on successful attainment of academic and personal goals. Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours including possible travel when necessary.

Preferred: Experience in the personal and academic development of students from diverse backgrounds. Experience working with student’s with college admissions process. Knowledge of high school to college transition dynamics.
