April 25, 2005

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Kansas soccer team split a pair of exhibition matches over the weekend as they continued on its spring schedule in preparation for the upcoming fall season.

On Saturday, the Jayhawks were able to defeat Purdue, 3-0, in Indianapolis, Ind. Kansas scored goals from junior forward Caroline Smith and newcomer Jenifer Thomas, who transferred to KU after playing last fall at Texas Tech. Lacey Novak also chipped in as she forced pressure causing Purdue to knock a ball into its own goal.

The Jayhawks’ perfect start the spring ended on Sunday, however, as KU fell to Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., by a final score of 2-0. The loss drops the Jayhawks’ overall record this spring to 2-1.

Kansas soccer is back in action on Thursday when it hosts the Blue Valley Stars U-15 club team at 5 p.m. at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
