Van Slyke Selected Big 12 Player of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the season time this season, Kansas junior outfielder A.J. Van Slyke has been honored by the Big 12 Conference as its Player of the Week. Van Slyke becomes the fourth KU Player of the Week this season.

Last week, Van Slyke collected a .545 (6-for-11) batting average at the plate with six runs scored, two doubles, a pair of home runs, 14 total bases and a 1.273 slugging percentage in three games, including a critical Big 12 win over Texas Tech on Saturday. He increased his team-leading RBI total to 42 and tied teammate Gus Milner for the team lead in home runs with eight. The Ladue, Mo., native also was a perfect one-for-one on the base paths and scored a career-high four runs against Wichita State on April 20.

Van Slyke also captured Player of the Week honors on March 1. Fellow outfielders Gus Milner and Matt Baty have also earned the accolade this season.
