Jayhawks To Assist With Special Olympics Power Lift Program

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s basketball players will hit the weight room Saturday morning but in a different role than normal. The KU student-athletes will be on hand to assist with the Special Olympics Power Lifting Program at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence. The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Coffin Sports Complex on the Haskell campus and is free and open to the public.

More than 25 special Olympians will take part in the program and each will do a series of three different lifts. The Jayhawks will be waiting at the champion’s podium to hand out medals to the winners. A gold, silver and bronze medal will be awarded for bench press, dead lift, squat and overall winner.
