Costner Named All-Big 12 First Team

April 27, 2006

DALLAS –

Junior Amanda Costner was one of five players named to the All-Big 12 First Team the conference office announced on Thursday. Costner becomes the first KU women’s golfer to be named all-conference since Holly Reynolds did so in her first three seasons (1991-1993).

“I am very proud of Amanda,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “She has worked very hard the last two years to accomplish her goals, and I think the future will continue to be very bright for her.”

The Claremore, Okla., native leads the Jayhawks with a 75.78 stroke average this spring as well as four top-20 finishes and one top-10. She has led Kansas in four of the team’s six tournaments on the spring and has a season-low round of 69 which she carded in the final round of the Mountain View Collegiate to help Kansas bring home the team title.

Costner and the rest of the team will await word on their NCAA Tournament fate as the selection committee will announce the field at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 1.
