Sophomore Andy Marks allowed just three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings, however Oklahoma scored eight times after the fifth as the 27th-ranked Sooners downed KU, 8-0 in a Big 12 baseball game at Dale Mitchell Park. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Jayhawks fall to 20-26 overall and 6-13 in the Big 12, while OU improves to 28-15 and 8-8 in conference play.

For the second straight Friday, the Jayhawks’ offense wasted a decent outing by sophomore Andy Marks. The sophomore lefty went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. He left the game trailing 2-0 with two outs in the sixth.

Six different players collected hits for Kansas. Junior John Allman and sophomore Buck Afenir both doubled.

OU broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth on Aaron Reza’s RBI single, which bounded into center field with two outs.

The Sooners added to the lead in the sixth, scoring two more runs with two men out. Zach Hedges doubled to right center to score the first run, while Joseph Hughes drove in another run on a double to center.

OU put the game away in the seventh with four runs off the KU bullpen using a couple walks, an error and a three-run triple by catcher Jackson Williams.

The Jayhawks will look to even the series tomorrow at Dale Mitchell Park at 3 p.m.
