Nine Jayhawks Earn Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Honors

SAN ANTONIO, Texas –

Ten Kansas soccer players have been named to the Big 12’s All-Academic teams, including nine student-athletes honored on the first team.

Seniors Stephanie Baugh, Jessica Bush, Kristin Graves, Jenny Murtaugh and Sara Rogers, along with juniors Julie Hanley, Estelle Johnson and Shannon McCabe as well as sophomore Katie Williams were named academic all-conference first team. Senior Missy Geha was selected to the second team.

The nine first-team selections mark the most by the Jayhawks since the 2003 team also placed nine on the squad. KU’s nine first team selections also matched Iowa State for the second most on this season’s team.

Graves became KU’s 12th player to be named Academic All-Big 12 first team three times in her career. Geha, McCabe, Murtaugh and Rogers have also all received mention on the academic teams multiple years of their career.

Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the soccer academic all- league squad consisted of 79 first team members combined with 15 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

The Jayhawks (11-7-1) will face Texas A&M in the first round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., at Blossom Soccer Complex in San Antonio.
