Riding a three-game win streak and carrying a new school record for single-season home runs, the University of Kansas softball team will close out its Big 12 Conference season when it welcomes No. 21/22 Texas A&M this weekend, April 30-May 1, at Arrocha Ballpark. Saturday’s contest begins at 4 p.m. and will be Senior Day for Jayhawk seniors Brittany Hile and Allie Clark. Sunday, KU’s popular promotion Bark in the Park is back and fans are permitted to bring their dogs to the game, which starts at noon, with a donation to the Lawrence Humane Society.

Kansas hit five home runs in its first game of a doubleheader at Wichita State Wednesday night to set the school’s new single-season home run record at 59. Liz Kocon hit two homers during the contest to move into a tie for the second-most home runs in a Jayhawk season with 14, which also ranks fifth among conference players. Kocon is second on the team hitting .338 with 40 RBIs. Maggie Hull leads all players with a .346 batting average as well as 54 hits and 47 runs batted in to rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the Big 12.

The Jayhawk bullpen will look to have a strong outing when they face Texas A&M, the league’s bottom offensive team hitting .284. Alex Jones saw limited time from the circle early in the year, but has made six appearances at pitcher in the last 10 games allowing just three earned runs in that time, a span of 15.1 innings for a team-best 1.37 ERA.
