Final Home Game Called Off Due to Weather

April 29, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Overnight thunderstorms and more on the way forced the cancellation of the Kansas softball team’s final home game against No. 24 Texas Tech, Sunday afternoon.

Originally scheduled for noon, Sunday’s game would have decided the series between the Jayhawks and the Red Raiders. Rain forced the last two innings of game one to be postponed until Saturday, which Tech (38-14, 11-9) claimed by a 4-1 margin.

Kansas (31-17, 6-14) rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the sixth and seventh innings to take game two, 5-4. The KU victory tied the series and marked the Jayhawks’ second top-25 win of the season.

This is KU’s fourth rainout of 2012 and it will not be rescheduled, ending the Jayhawks’ home schedule with a 9-6 record at Arrocha Ballpark.
