Jayhawks Compete at Final Day of Drake Relays

The University of Kansas track and field team’s had a handful of athletes compete at the final day of the 2005 Drake Relays on Saturday. After many impressive finishes at both the Drake and the Penn Relays this weekend, the Jayhawks will now prepare for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships which will take place May 13-15.

The Jayhawks top finish on Saturday was in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase. Junior Dan Ferguson took fourth place in the event with a season-best time of 9:08.28.

Junior Cameron Schwehr also PR’d in the 1,500. Schwehr finished fifth in the event with a time of 3:50.34. Fellow junior Joshy Madathil placed 10th in the 1,500 with a time of 3:53.47.

Senior Megan Manthe trimmed six seconds off her previous season best time in the women’s 1,500. Manthe placed sixth in the event with a time of 4:32.56.

Junior Brandon Hodges placed seventh in the 800 (1:52.36), to round out the day.
