Kansas freshman Mason Finley won both the discus and shot put titles Friday evening at the Arkansas Twilight, while recording two season-best marks in the process. Finley continued to demonstrate his dominance in the throws arena, as the Salida, Colo., native threw 60.12m (197-3 ft.) in the discus and 19.26m (63-02.25 ft.) in the shot put, both of which are among the top five marks recorded in the nation this year. Finley has now captured four discus and two shot put titles throughout the 2010 outdoor season.

In addition to Finley, five other Jayhawks captured individual victories in Fayetteville. Junior Jordan Scott won the pole vault with a mark of 5.27m (17-03.50 ft.), while sophomore Corey Fuller turned in career-best performance in the triple jump, leaping 15.42m (50-07.25 ft.) to take home the W.

Kyle Clemons was the top finisher in the 400-meter dash, as he crossed the tape in 46.50 to nab his third title of the season in the event. Clemons is currently 21st on the NCAA descending order list in the 400.

Eric Fattig had an impressive performance in the long jump, as the senior from Kearny, Neb., improved on his career-best mark by nearly six inches. Fattig jumped 5.27m (24-11.25 ft.) to finish third in the event.

On the women’s side, sophomore Alena Krechyk conquered the hammer throw with her winning-mark of 60.29m (197-9 ft.). Krechyk is the top ranked thrower in not only the Big 12 Conference, but the entire West region.

Freshman Heather Bergmann was also victorious, taking home the title in the javelin with a toss of 46.00m (150-11 ft.).

Freshman Taylor Washington was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 54.11, which puts her at No. 26 in the West region. Junior Kendra Bradley recorded the fastest time of her Kansas career at 55.38, which was good for ninth place.

Bradley was also a member of the women’s 4×400-meter relay team that took second with a season-best time of 3:37.28, which is among the top 15 times recorded in the West region thus far in the season.

The Jayhawks will have two weeks off from competition as they prepare for the 2010 Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Columbia, Mo., May 14-16.
