Threatening Storm Cancels Kansas-Wichita State Game

May 1, 2013

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Impending weather in Wednesday’s forecast prompted the cancellation of Kansas softball’s midweek game against Wichita State.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Arrocha Ballpark, this was to be the 22nd-consecutive season that the in-state rivals squared off on the softball field. The forecasted storm front for Wednesday evening, however, will halt the season series until next year as Wednesday’s game will not be rescheduled.

Thanks to the weather, the Jayhawks have been forced to cancel four total midweek games this season as the Missouri State doubleheader was called off due to snow on March 21 and a single game at Top-25 Nebraska on April 17 was also scratched due to weather.

Kansas will host a three-game series against No. 1 Oklahoma, starting with a Saturday doubleheader at 2 and 4 p.m. and a single game at noon on Sunday at Arrocha Ballpark. Sunday will also mark the 2013 Senior Day.
