Kansas 5, #9 Oklahoma 4

Kansas head coach Ritch Price:

On the Kansas pitching:

“I was really pleased with Shaeffer Hall. He grinded through six innings with the lead and then turned it over to the bullpen. Our bullpen was spectacular. Every single guy that came out of the bullpen had someone in scoring position when they came in and got out of trouble. It was a great performance.”

On the early lead:

“We had some really good at bats early. We were trying to lay off the sinker and slider pitch because that’s the kind of guy that (OU pitcher Andrew Doyle) is and get the ball elevated. To get the two home runs in the first inning and have a four-run cushion was big. We felt great about that kind of start. To their (Oklahoma) credit, they stabilized the forces and their bullpen was really good as well. That was a great Friday night win in the Big 12.”

On the win:

“It’s huge, absolutely huge, especially with the way the weather conditions are. It establishes the fact that we can go on the road and win on Friday night. Now we have to finish the deal and win the series.”
