May 2, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Lauren Bonds clocked in at 4:20.95 in the 1,500 meters Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., marking the third-fastest time in KU history and giving her a ninth-place finish.

Bonds, a junior from Hutchinson, Kan., was already qualified for regionals in the event, and improved her career-best time with her performance Saturday. She was the only KU athlete competing at Stanford this weekend.

Bonds and her Jayhawk teammates will now prepare for the 2009 Big 12 Outdoor Championships May 15-17 in Lubbock, Texas.
