Kansas senior Jimmy Waters homered and collected two hits, but it was not nearly enough. The Jayhawks committed four errors and surrendered six unearned runs in a 12-1 loss to No. 10 Oklahoma Friday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Sooners improve to 33-13 overall and 11-9 in the Big 12, while Kansas falls to 22-25 overall and 9-13 in conference play.

Waters hit a solo home run in his second consecutive game in the first inning to give the Jayhawks a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. However, that was the high-water mark for KU.

OU tied the game in the second inning with the help of two Jayhawk errors and broke the game open with four runs in the third. After KU starting pitcher T.J. Walz gave up back-to-back two out hits, the Sooners scored a run on a throwing error. OU first baseman Cameron Seitzer made the Jayhawks pay with a three-run homer to left field to give the home team a 5-1 advantage.

The Sooners scored three more times in the fifth to hand the Jayhawks their worst Big 12 loss of the season.

Waters and catcher James Stanfield each had two hits for Kansas. Oklahoma starting pitcher Michael Rocha tossed seven innings to record his ninth victory of the season.

The Jayhawks will look to even the series Saturday at 2 p.m., in a game that can be seen nationally on Fox Sports Net.
