LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the second straight year, Kansas Athletics brought in more than 400 years of combined experience hosting one of the premier workshops for sports performance at the Midwest Sports Performance Conference last weekend on the campus of KU.
“We had four current and previous presidents of the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) attend,” said Andrea Hudy, KU Assistant Athletics Director/Sports Performance and co-director of the conference. “We also had multiple board members, international research scientists and top coaches in strength and conditioning.”
The two-day event, held at the Anderson Family Strength and Conditioning Center on the KU campus, kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 7, and ran through Saturday afternoon.
“There were more than 150 attendees,” Hudy added. “The success would be the shared knowledge and interaction of the people throughout the conference. All left feeling great on what we accomplished.”
Renown individuals in the strength and conditioning profession brought more than 400 years of training, knowledge and experience to Lawrence and focused on preparing an athlete to compete in any sport at any level. Instruction included: best practice training methods, student wellness education, programs for in-season and off-season preparation and ways to increase constant improvement at all skill levels.
The workshop offered a combination of theory and practice presented by many of college athletics’ most respected sports science professionals over the two-day period. Those in attendance not only received the best of the best but also earned continuing education units from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Hudy was co-director of the event with Dr. Andrew Fry, Chair at the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Sciences at KU.
