LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior outfielder Rosie Hull’s 4.0 GPA highlighted the Kansas softball team’s six total representatives on the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 team, announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.

Hull was joined on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team by twin sister, Maggie Hull, fellow senior Morgan Druhan, redshirt junior Alex Jones and sophomore Maddie Stein. Sophomore Chanin Naudin earned Academic All-Big 12 Second Team status.

Druhan is a first-year honoree, while Jones was recognized for the second time. The Hull twins, who were named CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team members last week, earned first team accolades from the league for third-straight season.

“We hold them – and they hold themselves – to the same accountability in the classroom and on the field,” head coach Megan Smith said. “It’s impressive how they balance the season and their academics, but it’s also expected. They’ve done a great job with that and we’re very proud of them.”

The 2013 season marks the third-consecutive year that Kansas (31-16, 6-8) has seen six of its players recognized academically by the Big 12. In total, 41 student-athletes from the Big 12 earned recognition on the prestigious academic list. Baylor led the league with 10 selections.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (either cumulative or the two previous semesters) and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
