Kansas' Men's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country APR's Among Top 10 Percent In Country

May 12, 2010

The NCAA Wednesday recognized three KU teams – men’s basketball and men’s and women’s cross country – for achieving Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores that are among the nation’s top 10 percent in their respective sports.

All three sports achieved an APR score of 1,000, the highest score attainable.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation, providing a measure of each team’s academic performance.

“Each year the NCAA honors selected Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear APR,” the NCAA said in its release. “This announcement is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.”

The NCAA will release multiyear APRs for all NCAA Division I sports teams in the coming weeks.
