Former Jayhawk Metcalf Enjoys Minor League Success

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former University of Kansas baseball standout Travis Metcalf posted the best game of his professional career on May 11 with 4-for-4 performance to lead the Bakersfield Blaze to a 6-5 victory over Modesto in Class A minor league baseball action.

In the contest, Metcalf connected on his sixth home run of the season and drove in the game-winning run with a ninth-inning single. With the four hits in the game, Metcalf saw his batting average rise to .240.

In his last season with KU in 2004, Metcalf set the single-season home run record as he crushed 17 long balls.
