Matt Baty started the decisive seventh inning with a lead off single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ritchie Price. A walk to Jared Schweitzer and infield single by Gus Milner loaded the bases for Allman who deposited his sixth home run of the season over the left-centerfield fence.

Freshman Preston Land added two more runs in the inning with a double down the left field line that scored Erik Morrison and Brock Simpson.

Freshman Paul Smyth pitched the final 2.2 innings to pick up the win on the mound for KU. The righty allowed just one hit and struck out a batter to improve his record to 3-1.

Sean Land took the no-decision, pitching 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. The lefty allowed four runs (one earned) and walked four batters. Junior Brendan McNamara replaced Land with one out in the fifth. McNamara threw 2.0 innings of three-hit baseball.

Baty started the bottom of the first inning with a double and moved to third on a fly out to center by Ritchie Price. Jared Schweitzer then ripped a single to the left-centerfield gap to plate Baty and give KU a 1-0 lead.

Bradley tied the game in the top of the second inning as Jason Newburger led off the inning with a single and moved to second then third on passed balls. Colby Luttrell drove Newburger in with a RBI ground out.

Preston Land clubbed his freshman record ninth homer of the season in the second inning to put the Jayhawks back ahead, 2-1.

Milner doubled after Schweitzer walked with one out in the third inning to put runners at second and third base. Schweitzer scored on an RBI ground out by Allman; the RBI was the first of five Allman had on the day.

Land recorded his first triple of the season with one out in the fourth inning. Baty reached on a walk and stole second base to bring up Ritchie Price. Price laced a two-run single to give KU a 5-2 lead. The base knock was Price’s 300th hit of his career.

Bradley pulled to within a run with two runs in the fifth inning and tied the game in the seventh.

Game Notes: Only one of Bradley’s five runs was earned … Allman’s grand slam was KU’s first of the season and first since A.J. Van Slyke hit one against Northern Colorado on February 26 of last year … Matt Baty tied a season-high with three runs scored … John Allman set a career-high with five RBI … In his last three appearances, Sean Land has allowed just one earned run while striking out 12 batters in 12.2 innings … Preston Land was a single short of hitting for the cycle and his three hits tied a career-high.
