Humphreys Named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team

Senior Kassie Humphreys was named to the Big 12 Softball All-Tournament Team on Saturday night in <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Oklahoma City. Humphreys led the Jayhawks to its 2-1 extra inning over IowaState and held the eventual Big 12 Tournament Champion, Oklahoma, to its lowest number of runs in the tournament. Humphreys was also named to the 2006 Big 12 All-Tournament team when Kansas won the tournament championship.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Humphreys, a Second Team All-Big 12 selection, threw a one-hitter against IowaState and recorded Kansas’ two runs batted in. In the tournament, Humphreys had a .286 batting average with one double. In the circle, Humphrey s threw an impressive 212 pitches on Friday, May 11 to earn 2.21 ERA in 12 and two-thirds innings pitched.

Against IowaState, Humphreys was 2-for-4 at the plate and pitched all eight innings. She allowed only one hit–a solo home run, while striking out seven Cyclones and walking two. Humphreys was the only player named to the All-Tournament team that did not play on Saturday.

The 2007 Big 12 All-Tournament MVP is Oklahoma junior pitcher Lauren Eckermann.
