Jayhawks Place Three Rowers on Conference USA All-Academic Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas rowers Katie Beall, Stacy Rachow and Nicole Schneider were named to the 2010 Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office and voted on by the league’s sports information directors.

In all, sixteen student-athletes representing all nine C-USA rowing schools were named to the team. Alabama and Kansas placed three members on the team, while Oklahoma, Texas and Tulsa each had two. Kansas State, SMU, Tennessee and UCF had one representative each. The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key contributor to their team.

Beall, a senior from Baldwin City, Kan., has maintained a 3.86 GPA as an environmental studies and international studies major. A Phillipsburg, Kan., native, Rachow owns a 3.90 GPA as a senior and will graduate with a degree in elementary education. Schneider, a junior out of Lenexa, Kan., is a civil engineer major with a 3.92 GPA. She was one of just two non-senior or graduate student-athletes named to the academic team.

Kansas is set to compete in the 2010 C-USA Rowing Championship this weekend, May 15-16, in Oak Ridge, Tenn., as part of the South-Central Regional Regatta.
