McCaulley Earns All-Region Honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Kansas center fielder Dougie McCaulley was named to the 2008 Midwest All-Region Second Team it was announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Thursday. McCaulley, a junior out of Victorville, Calif., becomes the ninth player under coach Tracy Bunge to garner all-region accolades.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

McCaulley led the Jayhawk offense throughout the season and wrapped up the year with the school’s sixth-best single-season average batting .375. She also finished 2008 with a team-high 63 hits, the ninth-best mark in a KU single season.

KU’s center fielder also earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors this season and is the first all-region selection for Kansas since Kassie Humphrey and Serena Settlemier in 2006.

Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams to be announced prior to the Women’s College World Series. The WCWS will be played May 28-June 3 at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
