Kansas' Men's Basketball Game at Florida Part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge

May 15, 2013

IRIVING, Texas- Kansas men’s basketball game at Florida on Dec. 10 will be part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge, the two conferences announced Tuesday. The Big 12/SEC Challenge will begin during the 2013-14 season. “This will be very good for our league,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “We have a very difficult draw with our game in Gainesville (Florida), but it should be a great preparation game; one that will warrant a lot of national attention. Florida has one of the better rosters in America and has a chance to win it all. Hopefully we’re moving in that direction as well. It will be very exciting with a lot of young players going at each other.” ESPN will provide exclusive coverage of all 10 of the Big 12/SEC Challenge games on it networks. Additional components of the Challenge, including start times and television broadcast information, will be announced at a later date. The Challenge includes five teams ranked in an early ESPN.com preseason top 25: No. 1 Kentucky, No. 5 Kansas, No. 7 Florida, No. 11 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Baylor.
This will be the first inter-conference challenge for Big 12 men’s basketball since a four-year series between the conference and the Pac-10 from 2007-10. The Big 12 held a 28-20 advantage in games played in that event. “The Big 12 is excited to enter into another partnership with the SEC,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “It will add more quality opponents to our school’s annually strong non-conference schedules and provide an additional avenue to showcase some outstanding intersectional matchups.” 2013 BIG 12 / SEC CHALLENGE Thursday, November 14
