Head Coach Ritch Price

On the loss:

“First off, they pitched well. I’ve got to give them some credit. That’s what he (Brad Hutt) does. He uses his change-up to our left-handed hitters and got them off-balance. He used his slider on our right-handed hitters. We had opportunities. We had three chances to score with three of our best hitters up to bat. He found a way to punch somebody out with runners in scoring position. Certainly, we’ve got to flush Finals Week and find a way to play better tomorrow.”

On the Jayhawks’ energy:

“I thought we were completely ready to play. Obviously, Nick (Czyz) got himself into trouble and found a way to get out of it, because he could have buried us early in the ballgame. Anytime on Friday nights, you’ve got to put zeros on the board and find a way to stay in the game.”

On what he told the team after the game:

“I told the team to go have dinner. Go home and get a really good night’s sleep and then we’ve got to play every day of the weekend. It’s what I’ve been preaching. It’s going to come to winning two games; it’s going to come down to Sunday. This is the only time we’ve been shut out all season. It’s obviously a very disappointing performance offensively. That’s what this team does best; we’ve got to find a way to swing the bats tomorrow.”
