The 2005 Jayhawks, currently ranked 36th by Golfweek, locked up their eighth-consecutive berth into NCAA postseason play with this year’s selection. Since the NCAA began using the Regional tournament format during the 1989 season, Kansas has competed in 15 of 16 Regional competitions, only missing the tournament during the 1996-97 season.

`Hawks successful this spring…
Kansas entered postseason play after an impressive spring season where it won two tournament titles — the Roadrunner Intercollegiate and the Colorado-Stevinson Ranch Invitational. The team also finished in the runner-up position in the 59th Western Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs. The Jayhawks also won their home tournament, the Kansas Invitational, during the fall. Kansas finished sixth or better in five of its last six tournaments. Individually, senior Kevin Ward was hot in the spring, recording three top-10 finishes in six tournaments, including his third career victory when he took home the individual title at the Colorado-Stevinson Ranch Invitational. He leads the team with a 72.00 stroke average this spring. He was recently named to the All-Big 12 Team for the first time in his career. Sophomore Tyler Docking finished in a career-best tie for second at the Roadrunner Intercollegiate. Senior Andrew Price tied the all-time low round by a Jayhawk golfer earlier this spring by firing a 63 at the Taylor Made/Big Island Invitational. Sophomore Gary Woodland’s best finish of the year came at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational where he finished in a tie for 13th. Junior Luke Trammell has played in two tournaments as an individual this spring and has found his way on to the top-five for the last four events.
