LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Big 12 again proved its status as one of the premier women’s soccer conferences in the nation Thursday as BennettRank slotted the league at No. 3 for the 2012 season. The Kansas Jayhawks finished sixth in the 2012 league standings and boasted an overall record of 10-8-2, their 10th 10-win season in the last 12 years.

The conference again featured a competitive collection of teams as over three-quarters of the squads found themselves ranked in the top-90 of the season’s final RPI standings. The Big 12 had at least one team ranked in the top 25 during the entire 2012 season and had multiple teams ranked in the same week 11 times. Six teams received votes at some point this year.

The league saw three of its teams play in the NCAA tournament in 2012. The Big 12 has advanced at least two teams to the second round of the NCAA Championship and at least one squad to the third round in 15 of the league’s 17 seasons.
