IRVING, Texas –

Seven Kansas baseball players have been honored by the conference with selection to the Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, which was released Tuesday. Juniors Casey Lytle and T.J. Walz as well as redshirt-freshman Jake Marasco were named to the first team, while seniors Brett Lisher and Robby Price, junior Brett Bochy and sophomore Colton Murray garnered second team honors.

The seven Academic All-Big 12 selections marks the most by a Kansas baseball team since the 2005 season, when a record eight student-athletes earned the distinction.

All seven Jayhawks selected to the team are making their first appearance on the academic all-conference squad. Lytle and Walz have both been candidates for other academic awards this season.

Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the baseball academic all-league squad consisted of 43 first team members combined with 26 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Kansas (30-21-1) will face Arkansas-Little Rock in its final non-conference game of the season Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Dickey-Stephens Park in Little Rock, Ark.
