KU's Nicole Schneider Named To Academic All-District Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas rower Nicole Schneider was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team it was announced Thursday.

The senior from Lenexa, Kan. owns a 3.94 grade-point average in civil engineering. She was one of 10 student-athletes named to the team which is selected from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Schneider was named academic All-Big 12 and Conference USA this season. She also earned the Dr. Gerald Lage Award and a Conference USA academic medal. In her career she was named to both the athletic director’s honor roll and the Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll seven times. Five times she was tabbed to the school of engineering dean’s list.

Schneider is a two-time member of KU’s First Varsity Eight. In 2009 she was named the team’s most improved oarswoman

Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitions.

Schneider is now eligible to be selected to the Capital One All-America Team.
