Kansas Postgame Quotes

Kansas 7, Oklahoma 8

May 22, 2010

Center fielder Brian Heere:

On the loss:

“That was one of the toughest losses. I feel like we came out and played hard. We bounced back from last night. It’s just a devastating loss.”

On whether they were comfortable with their 7-4 lead:

“You can never be content or comfortable with a lead in the Big 12. You still have to come out and play hard. They just did a good job of coming back.”

On senior day tomorrow:

“It’s going to be a special day. We’re going to have to come back and play even harder tomorrow. We need to do something special for the seniors.”

Kansas head coach Ritch Price

On the loss:

“With all that was at stake tonight, that was definitely the toughest loss of the season.”

On the pitching of Cameron Selik and Wally Marciel:

“I feel awful for Cameron. (We’ve) blown a win of his (before) in the late innings of the game. We needed a great pitching performance to win tonight and we got it from him. He was at 116 pitches after seven innings. I was really pleased with Marciel, and the way he threw the ball in the eighth and the start of the ninth. Both of those guys were absolutely special.”

On trying to bounce back for tomorrow:

“I thought after the way the one ended yesterday, that it put some momentum in their dugout. We had to stop that with our starting pitcher, and Selik was able to do that. It’s going to take an even better effort tomorrow to get the win.”
