May 25, 2007

ATLANTA –

Former Kansas pitcher Mike Zagurski made his major league debut Friday evening, pitching the eighth inning in the Phillies’ 8-3 victory over Atlanta. The 6-foot-0 lefty retired all three Braves he faced.

Zagurski, who pitched at KU from 2004-05, is the 21st Jayhawk to appear in a major league game. He joins former teammate Travis Metcalf who made his major league debut on May 19 for the Texas Rangers.

Zagurski holds KU’s single season record for strikeouts with 112 in 2005.
