LAWERENCE, Kan. –

The <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Kansas Athletics Sports Medicine Staff has been named the Big 12 Sports Medicine Staff of the Year for 2007-08. The honor, voted on by the sports medicine staff of each Big 12 Conference school, is awarded to the program that has not only done an exceptional job in the treatment of its own student-athletes, but has also gone out of its way to help visiting teams and staff. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

“It means a lot to me that everyone around the conference agrees with how I feel about our staff,” said KU director of sports medicine Murphy Grant. “They perform their jobs with the greatest of skill and care. It shows that our staff is doing the right things and going in the right direction to help student-athletes succeed. We are lucky to have people such as Dr. Larry Magee, Dr. Jeff Randall and the rest of the KU team physicians, who support and encourage us to do our jobs to the best of our ability.”

It is the first time in the history of the Big 12 that KU has garnered the award.
