Mims, Linnen Earn All-American Accolades

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –

Seniors Amy Linnen and Jeremy Mims have earned All-American accolades with their third and fourth place finishes at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

Linnen placed third in the pole vault with a new school record of 14-01.25. Three other competitors finished at that height, but Kate Soma of Washington won the event with fewer misses. Freshman Ekaterina Sultanova ended her impressive first year with a seventh place, 13-05.25 effort.

Senior Jeremy Mims placed fourth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:45.86. That is a personal-best for Mims and the second best time in school history. Dmitrijs Milkevics of Nebraska won the event with a time of 1:44.74.

Selected members of the KU track and field teams will move on to compete at the U.S. Championships.
