<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football and men’s basketball can now be heard in the Tulsa market. Jayhawk Sports Marketing has announced that KYAL-AM and KYAL-FM, The Sports Animal in Tulsa, have become part of the Jayhawk Radio Network.

Beginning this fall and running through the 2009-10 seasons, Kansas fans in Tulsa and its surrounding areas will be able to follow Kansas Athletics’ most popular teams. The Jayhawk football team is coming off its best season in school history with a 12-1 record, including a 24-21 victory against Virginia Tech in the FedEx Orange Bowl. KU’s men’s basketball team claimed the schools’ fifth NCAA Championship this past season, winning a school-record 37 games, including the Big 12 regular season and postseason titles.

“We are very pleased to bring KU football and basketball to our listeners in Tulsa and northeast Oklahoma,” Kevin Ward, Program Director of The Sports Animal, said. “Since there are many connections to coaches and players in our listening area, it just makes sense. We are about winning here on The Sports Animal and so is KU. It’s a perfect fit.”

Besides game action, KYAL-AM (1550) and KYAL-FM (97.1) will also air the weekly coaches’ shows for the 2007 consensus national football coach of the year Mark Mangino and Kansas men’s basketball 2008 NCAA Championship coach Bill Self.

Established in 2005, KYAL-AM and KYAL-FM has one of the biggest radio signals in Oklahoma. KU fans in southeast Kansas, eastern Oklahoma and the western edge of Arkansas will now have the availability to listen to Kansas football and men’s basketball.
