KU Ranked 22nd in Final ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas softball team earned a No. 22 ranking in the final 2006 ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll released Wednesday. The Jayhawks, ranked 24th nationally in the regular-season poll on May 16, concluded the 2006 season with an overall record of 36-26 — the most victories since 1997.

KU won its first-ever Big 12 Championship on May 13 and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the second straight season. The Jayhawks fell to 14th-seeded Washington in double-elimination play at the Provo, Utah, regional championship.
