Former Jayhawks Impressive in Pro Softball League

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Former Jayhawk standouts and 2006 University of Kansas graduates Destiny Frankenstein (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and Serena Settlemier (Kelso, Wash.) are making their mark on the National Professional Fastpitch League. Frankenstein is a member of the New England Riptide while Settlemier is on the Texas Thunder squad.

In four games to open the Thunder’s season, Settlemier blasted two home runs and drove in eight RBI and for her efforts was named NPF Player of the Week.

Settlemier, a pitcher/designated player, is currently batting .290 and leads the league with 13 RBI and three home runs. She is 1-1 in the circle with a 2.71 ERA through 10.1 innings of work. The Thunder (League City, Texas) are 7-2 on the season and third in the league standings.

Frankenstein, a rookie shortstop, scored her first run on June 11 against the Chicago Bandits and made an impressive catch for her first double play. The Riptide, 1-2 on the season, play their home games at Martin Field in Lowell, Mass.
