June 15, 2012

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced its 2012 Hall of Fame inductees and included on the list was Kansas women’s basketball head coach Bonnie Henrickson. Henrickson competed in the Northern Sun Conference from 1981-85 as a standout basketball student-athlete at St. Cloud State.

One of eight individuals honored as part of the NSIC’s 13th hall of fame class, Henrickson continues to rank among St. Cloud State’s all-time leaders. As a forward, Henrickson appeared in a program record 122 games during her four-year career and ranks second in free throws made (507), third in free throws attempted (646), fourth in rebounds (955) and sixth in points (1,731). She also ranks in the top 10 for free throw percentage (8th–.787), field goals made (8th—612) and field goals attempted (9th—1,360).

In Henrickson’s four years as a player, the Huskies compiled a 97-25 overall record, including a school-record 31 victories in 1982-83. Her team’s 27-3 mark in 1983-84 continues to stand as the program’s best single-season winning percentage at 90.0 percent. Henrickson helped SCSU win three Northern Sun Conference championships and advance to three NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

Henrickson, who is entering her ninth season at KU after guiding the Jayhawks to the 2012 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, was a three-time all-conference selection at St. Cloud State. She was also chosen a team captain in her junior and senior campaigns.

Since the merger of the Northern Intercollegiate Conference (former men’s) and the Northern Sun Conference (former women’s) in the spring of 1992, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame has enshrined 157 individuals and one team in its history.
