PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Former Kansas standout Gary Woodland completed the first round of the United States Open Golf Championship shooting a five-over par 76 Thursday.

Woodland was in the first group of the day and started the round with two pars before carding a bogey on the third hole. He finished the front nine four over par after making bogey on five, eight and nine.

On the back nine he recorded consecutive birdies on 14 and 15 to reach three under par, before going two over on the last three holes.

Woodland’s second round on Friday will begin on the 10th hole at 2:30 p.m. Central time.
